Anne Cuthbert is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Oregon and a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Washington. She holds a master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Antioch University, Santa Barbara, CA. Anne specializes in working with those with eating disorders and negative body image.Anne’s counseling experience spans over 20 years and has included studying and working with experts in the eating disorder field, teaching counseling and communication skills classes, and assisting and managing several personal growth seminars and support groups. In addition to being an eating disorder specialist, Anne has provided counseling to people with a variety of relationship issues and early traumas, including adults who were abused as children.As a therapist, I will help you discover how to:
- Eat and enjoy the foods you really love, without worrying about gaining weight
- Accept and even like your body
- Find and maintain your healthy weight naturally through uncovering the underlying causes for your behaviors
- Focus on and improve your relationships by helping you move away from blaming food and your body
- Learn to like yourself, your whole self
As a counselor, I go beyond traditional talk therapy to help you to learn healthier coping skills around food, your body, and your life in general. I use a counseling approach that will help you address the root causes of your problems around food.
Through therapy, you can end the cycle of using food and hating your body to cope with your emotional needs.In counseling, I’ll help you make step-by-step changes that will help you overcome your problems around food and help you feel good about your body. Food issues and having a poor body image are symptoms of deeper needs that need to be met.In order to make permanent changes you need to get to the root of the problem and find healthier ways to meet your needs. In the end, counseling will help you overcome your problems with food and how you feel about your body.
Overall, you will develop a richer and more satisfying life.I am an acting board member of CREDN, Columbia River Eating Disorders Network. ASDAH member, Association of Size Diversity and Health, Internal Policy Committee, Membership Committee and Conference Planning Committee (co-chair).

The season of getting sick is just about here, and this year we all have good reason to be especially conscious of not spreading germs. So if you have any cold or flu symptoms, we ask you to stay home and get yourself well rather than come in to the office — and for several days after your symptoms subside.We don’t want you to miss your sessions.

You will need a private space at home, along with a good Internet connection and a computer or tablet. You will also need to do some additional paperwork before we can begin.

Things to consider:
If you have a hard time finding confidential space, here are some examples that others have used. These are not ideal, but should be considered secondary choices if an ideal setup is not available. If you use any of these, please make sure that the space is comfortable to you. Being comfortable is also highly important.
- Is the space private?
- Can you lock the door?
- If not, will others who have access to the space respect your request for privacy and not enter the room?
- Can you/have you had a conversation with them?
- Were they receptive?
- Can others outside the room hear you talking?
- If so, can you create white noise with a fan or other form of background noise? (Preferably placed outside the doorway of the room you’re in)
- Consider using headphones or earbuds so that your provider’s voice is kept private and is only hearable by you.
- Laundry Room
- Actual last resort: your car parked in a safe, private spot. (We want to emphasize that private does not mean secluded. Please do make sure you are in a safe location.)
Clear Your InternetBe sure to move your computer as close as you can to your WiFi router (the box that makes the WiFi.) Or better yet — plug your computer into the router with a cable!After that, you’ll want to close out of any programs you don’t need which use your Internet connection. This video will show you some examples of doing that (and this article will explain it.)
- A laptop or desktop computer are ideal — preferably the biggest screen size that you have available to you (that you can also have in a comfortable, confidential space)
- If you’re using a tablet or phone, please prop up the device so that it is stable and that the camera is about level with your eyes
- Whatever device you’re using, please make sure that the camera is about level with your eyes. It may require propping up your device or monitor on other items, such as books.
- Please make sure that you’re well lit and don’t have a bright light source directly behind you
